Since 1 April 2026, every pump in India pours E20. No exceptions, no opting out, no E10 to fall back on.
Type your car in to see if it can handle the juice or if it's cooked. Get a straight answer, plus a note on what to do if it can't.
Finding out from your mechanic is not the vibe. Let's see if it's built different or built for a museum.
Per Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas notification (Feb 2026), reported by Business Standard, Autocar India, and PIB. This is an active, contested policy. See the Myths section for the current debate.
Car? Bike? Scooty? Pick your ride, then drop the brand, model and year. No more "I'll deal with it later" era. We check your vehicle against our compliance data (methodology and sources are in the footer), then give you AI-powered insights on whether your ride is chill with it.
Some manufacturers have actually published their E20 compatibility position. For everyone else, we infer it from the BS6 regulatory phase their vehicles were sold under. Brands we've verified individually are labelled too, because apparently "it should be fine" isn't enough.

Trust issues? Same. That's why every pump's name, address and coordinates are cross-checked against public listings. E20 is basically the main character, XP95/100 is for engines with expensive taste, and E85 is still in its "new account, 48 followers" era with 48 pumps nationwide as of June 2026. Pick a blend and let the map cook.
Each bar is the national average ethanol blend for that Ethanol Supply Year (ESY, Nov through Oct), per SIAM and government data via Business Standard. India hit the 20% target in ESY 2025-26, about 5 years early. Taller stalk, higher blend. The forest never signed off on this metaphor, but here we are.
E20? Default. XP95/XP100? Optional wallet damage. If your car doesn't specifically need ethanol-free fuel, the real question is whether the mileage boost is worth the premium. Ethanol has about 33% less energy density than pure petrol, so yes, ethanol-free can go a little further. Whether it goes far enough to save money? That's where the calculator enters the chat.
